"We "did" the Garden Route a couple of years ago and vowed we would go back at stay in Wilderness for a longer period of time - we have just returned from a great six nights at the Boardwalk Lodge - we were on a B&B basis and couldn't fault it .... remember it is not a hotel but the staff go out of their way to assist you with anything thing you need. The location is perfect - set on the side of a hill - away from the beach (which we decided was better than being on the beach because of the spray) but with a perfect view of the ocean and literally a five min walk into the town or ten mins to the beach (uphill on the way back). The rooms are very private, clean and comfortable with a good sized fridge should you wish to stock up on a few things. The breakfasts were good and drinks are available all day with the bar being open early evenings should you wish sit and watch the sun go down before walking into town for a meal at one of the restaurants. "We stayed in a luxury suite. Very spacious and well maintained. Huge balcony overlooking the ocean with fantastic sunset views. Very friendly and efficient staff always willing to help. Breakfast menu was kinda limited but the "famous" omlette and French toast were divine! Getting to the rooms are a challenge on the first few days due to the stairs, but it is well worth the climb. Boardwalk Lodge is very close to the town centre, though i do not recommend walking as the return is very steep and tiring! The pool and braai facilities were clean and well maintained. Juan and his assistants were very helpful with activities to do in the area. All their recommendations turned out to be fantastic. Just be careful not to leave the windows open with lights on... unless you love insects. But the luxury suite is equipped with an aircon so we were in total comfort! At end of our stay the only disappointment was that we had to leave! A truly fantastic lodge and we definitely recommend the Boardwalk Lodge for a great ho"
